These Old Phones Will Be Cut off From WhatsApp in 2020
Whatsapp will soon stop working on millions of phones running older versions that Whatsapp unable to support them. According to the recent reports, millions of users with older smartphones will not be able to run this popular messaging app.
Whatsapp is no longer work on iPhone 8 or earlier; Apple first introduces in 2014. This means that anyone with an iphone 6 or newer series will not have to worry about this.
Notable devices losing WhatsApp support include iPhones or older iPhone 5, all Microsoft Lumia devices, HP elite smartphones, and virtually all android smartphones that launched around 2010 or earlier. Such as Google Nexus one, Samsung Epic 4G, and Motorola.
Whatsapp is asking users to use phones that run on Android 4.0.3 or later software version so they are not impacted with the stoppage of services. Whatsapp also asks users to use phones running kaiOS 2.5.1+, including jioPhone and JioPhone2. Reliance jio and whatsapp worked together to bring WhatsApp support to JioPhone and Jio Phone 2 last year.
Whatsapp moves hardly surprisingly. All technology gets left behind at some point. Make sure you upgrade your smartphones’ operating system, if possible to meet the new WhatsApp requirements. It might also be worth looking into WhatsApp alternatives like- hike, live chat, Instagram for chatting. If you are running a phone that doesn’t give you permission to install or run WhatsApp, then it’s time to switch to an alternative chatting option, or you can sell it.
